Nicola Walker and Max Brown on Celebrity MasterChef
Because of cross-posting I've decided to post this to my own journal but leave the entry unlocked.
Icons are here, but these will be locked after five days.

Caps are my own.

Unfortunately  I have no way of uploading Max and Nicola’s brief appearance on Celebrity MasterChef for all those who don’t have access to BBC I player, but below is a review/transcript of what happened.

I don’t watch MasterChef myself, but basically it’s a reality show that sets the contestants and celebrities (depending on which version it is!) through their paces by setting them a series of cooking challenges. This week, the final three celebrities were challenged to prepare lunch in a tiny catering van, for the entire cast and crew of Spooks, which worked out at about 75 people.
There was a choice of three main meals:
  • Roast Pork
  • Cod in Parsley Sauce
  • Vegetable Curry
And sides of:
  • Mash
  • New Potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Tomato and Fennel Bake
Pudding was either:
  • Caramelised Pineapple with yoghurt
  • Banana Bread with Custard
There wasn’t a lot of behind the scenes footage, although we did get the occasional glimpse of Simon Russell Beale (Home Sec) filming in his office – the dialogue was not clear so I can’t work out what episode it was from, but they obviously picked that scene because it didn’t give a lot away. (The conversation between Nicola and Max below would indicate that the scene was in 10.2/10.3, but obviously they don’t shoot in order so who knows!)

Max Brown commented on what food means to those on set;

“We get an hour for lunch so if the food isn’t hot and ready to go you get a lot of angry faces”
And for reference, he orders the Cod with Mash

The first time we see Nicola she is in the queue having what looks like a serious conversation with the person on the other end of the phone. Noting the coat, it appears to be a rather cold day on set!

When at the van, Nicola orders the cod with mash and carrots and flashes her winning smile at the camera. She also gets called ‘darling’ by the contestant serving her which is rather sweet!

We then see the dining hall!
Nicola appears to be enjoying her meal (shown later by the empty plate) as does Max although he has a complaint! Below is a copy of the conversation she has with the camera and Max, I have tried my best to make it ‘word for word’ but this involved a lot a pausing and rewinding which is rather hard on I player so it might not be completely correct…

N: A lovely piece of fish, I could have done with a bigger piece that’s my only complaint! But there was a rush on the cod.
M: Cod’s lovely, fennel was a bit tough, but the other bits were really lovely.
N: Max was going to have the pork belly, [cut to Max smiling] but Max can’t have the pork belly because he’s got to get his kit off in the next episode. [Cut to Max looking highly embarrassed, but still smiling] He’s on a strictly high protein diet from now on!

This is the last we have of Nicola and Max actually speaking and we don’t know what they order for pudding, but there are glimpses of them hanging around outside the van talking to various members of the crew afterwards.

Caps are my own, and I hope that was ok, it’s the first time I’ve done something like this!

Thanks so much!

Frankly, all of that sounds simply awful to me!!! Why the heck would you have pineapple with yoghurt??? or ruin banana bread with custard? GAH YOU BRITISH PEOPLE. LOL ;)

I think I'd be picking the vege curry and the potatoes lol.

Nicola has such a lovely smile and she looks really beautiful in that cap. Thanks again!

No worries!

I don't understand the pinapple, but banana bread an custard is amazing!!
Nicola always looks completely beautiful, even in a really thick coat and jumpers!

If you say so... I am strangely intrigued... I have NEVER heard of anyone doing that before in Australia lol... but then I don't know of anywhere that has it as a literal desert. You get it heated up from coffee shops and have it like that with butter on it sometimes :)

I don't know. I don't think Nicola actually is particularly beautiful but then she smiles and all of the claims make sense. Besides I think she's a beauitful personality and that's more important :)

You can buy it in coffee shops here too. It just tastes awesome with custard! But then I would eat custard with anything if I could!

It's her smile that does it for me too, I think because her smile is so lovely she can make whatever she wears look good! But I do agree with you to an extent. I'm still on a high after meeting her so I can totally get with that!

The honest truth is I never thought she was beautiful till I met her. And it is one of the happiest memories of my 21 years!

Though in Touching Evil and Chalk she is rather hot ;)
